This publication is a result of the youth citizenship program initiated and developed by IPPS and supported by the Education Ministry since 2002. The program aimed to promote the young’s understanding of their social role in the parliamentary democracy from local to regional and national levels, so that the youth can learn about their country and the rule of law.

This book consists of 4 parts, firstly the compilation of students’ essay on their families, schools, villages, provinces and heroes. Those messages bring to them realization of their root and good memory of their local environment. Secondly, letters from the students who participated in the programs. IPPS recognized these as feedback of our achievement in nurturing the young plants to become a vigorous trees enable to contribute their actively participation in the Thai society. Thirdly, letters from teachers who accompanied their students to the program. Their thoughtful and complementary voices are very useful to our evaluation and development of the program and we are really appreciated.

The fourth and last part is about our program from the beginning in 2002 to our latest “Citizenship and the State of Law” in 2004.

This book is expected to promote and enlarge civic education among the youth in Thailand so they could become a citizen in our democratic society.
